History
The Health Resort Cracow - Swoszowice has existed since 1811.
In 1807 Feliks Radwański, prof. of Jagiellonian University purchased Swoszowice. He built spa „Łazienki” and sulphur water was supplied by wooden gutters. Prof. Radwański built also some buildings destined for flats for guests. In 1811 health resort was formally opened.
Comparatively good years have last till 1831. Then, Powstanie Listopadowe (November Uprising), closing of customs in Podgórze and pestilence of cholera have evoked crash of Swoszowice which last next 30 years.
In 1859 spa as well as adjoining sites have been bought by Spółka Zdrojowisk Krajowych (created by chairman Józef Dietl).Power of Józef Dietl and member of company prof. dr Franciszek Skrobel let to spa’s extension and raise rank of health resort.

1362 – the first time when Swoszowice was mentioned as a village in „Tyniecki Kodeks Praw”.

The 14th century – suplhur mine in the vicinity of Swoszowice (the biggest in contemporary Europe). Considerable revenues for royal treasure. Diagnosis of sulphur sources and their application during pestilence.

1578 - physician Wojciech Oczko published book entitled „Cieplice” („hot springs”) describing sulphur sources.

The 16th century – sulphur waters were used for remedial baths by Zakon Kanoników Laterańskich.

1617 – research leading by Erazm Syxta over remedial waters in Swoszowice.

1807-1811 – professor of Jagiellonian University Feliks Radwański created health resort Swoszowice according to contemporary European patterns. Building of „Łazienki” and marking out a park.

1840 - first scientific analysis of mineral waters from Swoszowice.

1939-1945 - extension „Łaźnia” by Germans during II World War.

1945 - nationalization of health resort.

1950-1960 - scientific analysis of mineral waters led by Instytut Balneologiczny in Szczawno Zdrój and by Jagiellonian University in Cracow.

1952-1953 - drilling nearby Łusina. Confirmation of existence of new mineral waters.

1973 - formal registration of P.P. Zespół Uzdrowisk Krakowskich. Swoszowice was included in administrative borders of Cracow.

1974 - bestowed Swoszowice on status of health resort.

1999 – commercialization of Zespół Uzdrowisk Krakowskich. Transformation of state enterprise into joint-stock company with 100% participation of the tresury (Skarb Państwa).

2007 - change of legal form and name of joint-stock company. Now it is Health Resort Cracow Swoszowice Co. Ltd.
Just about 200 years Health Resort Swoszowice has treated by water „Sanus per aquam”- „Health by water”.
